Picture someone who hasn’t been camping in about er.. 18 years or offroading ever in her life thrown into both in one night. YUP - that’s how Robert decided to get me into this thing called “camping” and “offroading”.
At this point Robert and I had been dating for a little more than 3 months.
Here was our “home” for ONE night.
Now it looks comfy and everything, but we were literally on rocks - or how should I say.. I was literally sleeping on rocks! Oh and if you had to go to the bathroom here they had more porta potties available for use (but that was about it). Thank god I brought hand sanitizer.
So after getting there in the dark and meeting up with one of Robert’s old offroading buddies, Dave, he made camp and we went to sleep, or well, I went to sleep. Sound asleep. I was out like a log. Needless to say when I awoke my body didn’t thank me for sleeping on mini boulders, and my hair was a bit unhappy. I also had to pee and I didn’t want to walk the half block or so to use the porta potty so my stomach was upset with me too. Everything that is my body was unhappy, BUT I was determined not to complain once.

Here was breakfast, or Robert’s breakfast. I was still having my upset stomach.
Mountain House is actually pretty tasty, and I’d recommend them to anyone who plans on camping or hiking. All you need is a cup or two of boiled water and you pour into the sack and it starts making the food. There’s more scientific ways of saying that but basically that’s just gist of it.
Finally the adventure got on the road. We met up with two other couples that were with Robert’s group for offroading (I believe he already knew them from previous offroading experiences) and they had brought their wives with them. They didn’t camp in the park like Robert, Dave, and I because their wives told them “no” and they stayed in a hotel. If I had been dating Robert a bit longer I probably would have told him “no” as well, but that’s besides the point.
This is basically what our entire trip looked like:
One one one we all disappeared over a cliff and the adventure began. Dave had the guide in his car since he was the only solo traveler in our group. I have to say offroading was actually very fun, and quite enjoyable. Now the next few pictures don’t do justice of what it was actually like going over these tremendous dips, tucks, loose rocks, etc.. but let me just tell you it gets your heart pumping!
This is where Dave got stuck and Robert had to use his winch to get him unstuck (also all the vehicles shown are Nissan Xterra’s)

Back to our adventure..
Eventually Dave, being the lead car and all, got into a fight with a tiny tree. Needless to say the tiny tree was.. err.. taken out..
Here is the exact moment where I wondered if we were stuck and then the exact moment that I knew we were indeed stuck.
Overall it was a very enjoyable trip and an eye opener. This was our first real “trip” together into the outdoors.
